Plasma panels
- Cleaning the screen - As far as possible do not touch the screen. Bugt the screen can be cleaned using a chamois leather if needed.
- Use the wipe/swipe function in the set up menu to balance the brightness and to remove week spots (reduce theburn in effect) on a periodical basis as specified by the manufacturer.
Cassette decks
- Never attempt to service the inside on your own as it has quite a few mechanical moving parts.
- Demagnetizing the heads and capstan after every 25 hours of play.
- Head cleaning. Use a head cleaning solvent specified by any of the OEMs. Use a cotton cloth and NOT surgical cotton to wipe the head clean.
- Pinch roller cleaning is as important for quality reproduction as the head itself. In feather touch decks it might be achallenge because the roller would not rotate unless there is a tape in the cassette compartment. Leave it to an expert.
- Belt changes- frequency as specified in the service manual (approximately 1000 hours).
AV receivers
- The unit should not be opened by any unauthorized persons as the connector cards are likely to be damaged while opening. Using vaccum cleaners, depending on the dust levels in the environment a cleaning frequency can be fixed and vacuumed. Special vacuum cleaners with nozzle like inputs can be used.
Speakers
- Requires only dusting. Never touch the diaphram. Use a camel hair brush to remove dust
CD/DVD players
- Use a cleaner Disc on a frequency of 25-50 hours of playing depending on how dusty the environment is.
